holy sites

What makes Saudi Arabia unique for Muslims is that it is the geographic location of Islam's core historical events. Madinah is a holy city — much like Makkah — and it is dotted with holy sites, like Uhud Mountain and Mount Aynain, where the battle of Uhud took place under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad. Seventy of the Prophet's companions lie buried here, and now millions make it a stopping point along their pilgrimage, as this celebrated battle came to symbolize a triumph of Islam.
